Jewelry Spotlight: Gold Tone Stainless Steel Heart Toggle Pendant

One of my all-time faves from To the Nines, I've found that I keep reaching for this gold tone stainless steel flat hear toggle clasp pendant again and again. Here's a little background info on the inspiration behind the piece.

Isn't it weird that you spend all of this time collecting all sorts of amazing jewelry, and then you end up wearing some of the same pieces most of the time? When you've got to get dressed quickly and need a little something to elevate your look, it's comforting to have those go-to pieces that always seem to just work with everything! Some jewelry is just more versatile than others, and for me, this gold tone stainless steel flat heart pendant is one of the biggest staples in my collection!

I created the design for this pendant based on a timeless design that I had seen in vintage pieces that were mostly made of sterling silver or other precious metals. A similar version (in Mexico Sterling Silver) I found online from an estate sale is now selling for approximately $229 on Ebay, while a Tiffany & Co version I found costs upward of $300. I've also seen other modern versions I've seen on Etsy are offered at around the same price range as well. While I absolutely love sterling silver, one of the challenges with it is how quickly it can tarnish.

The To the Nines version (pictured above) is in a great medium size, made by hand from stainless steel, and has been updated with a trendy paper-clip style chain (which has been all the rage lately). This stainless steel version is perfect for summer because it resists tarnish. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about sweating in it (during my outdoor walks at lunch) or wearing it out in a humid climate.

The toggle clasp is super-easy to fasten, and I love it so much that I'm actually considering making and wearing more pieces with this style clasp in the future. I'm finding that the older I get, the less patience I have for fastening tiny clasps behind my neck. I can throw this one on in literally seconds.

$22 (as of today). Also available in a dark silver tone. You can purchase it HERE through the To the Nines Jewelry Online Boutique:
